Area Information for Knightdale, North Carolina
Knightdale is a suburb of the Raleigh metropolitan area that had a population of about 10,000 as of the 2010 Census.
This lovely community, which borders the city of Raleigh at the Neuse River, developed quickly during the 20th century after the local railroad and depot were built.
In 1927, Knightdale was officially incorporated and Bennett L. Wall became the town’s first Mayor.
In 1940, a major fire broke out in the center of town and many of the downtown businesses and homes were destroyed. Since then, the town of Knightdale has worked hard to restore its historic downtown area.
